The Winline Cup of Russia is an annual tournament among women's teams, which has been held by the RFU since 1992. The USSR Cup was held only once – in 1991, the winner was Sibiryachka from Krasnoyarsk (now JFK Yenisei).

During the 32 years of the competition in the post-Soviet period, only 9 teams won the trophy:

– "Energy" (Voronezh) and "Zvezda-2005" (Perm) – 7 times each;

– Russian (Moscow region) – 5;

– Lada (Togliatti), CSKA, Lokomotiv (both Moscow) – 3 each;

– Ryazan-Airborne Forces – 2 each;

– CSK VVS (Samara), Interros (Moscow) – 1 each.

The current winner of the Russian Cup is Lokomotiv, which in October 2024 beat the previous winner of the tournament, CSKA, at the VEB Arena in Moscow (2:0).

Unlike last season, when some Superleague teams started their way from the 1/16 finals stage in the Russian Winline Cup, this year all 13 Superleague Winline clubs will start fighting for the trophy from the 1/8 finals stage. In addition to them, three clubs from outside the top division also made their way to the number of 1/8 participants: Master Saturn (Moscow Region), Ural (Yekaterinburg) and Football Academy (Tambov).

Thus, the pairs of the 1/8 finals of the Winline Cup of Russia, made up of the teams of the Winline Super League and other divisions of Russian women's football, are as follows:

Interestingly, in the event of a victory over the Wings of the Soviets in Samara in the next round, Dynamo may face the bronze medalist of the Winline Super League-2024 – Spartak Moscow, if he, in turn, copes with Rubin in Kazan. In general, before the finals, which will traditionally take place in October, other Super League clubs may become rivals of our girls – in addition to the already named Spartak and Rubin, these are Krasnodar, Chertanovo, CSKA.

But the current champion of the Zenit Super League and the current winner of the Lokomotiv Cup will start their way to the finals in the other half of the grid, and our team will not be able to meet them before the finals.

The current national Cup draw will be held according to the following formula:

– at the stage of 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 finals, the winner is determined by the result of one match;

– if the match ends in a draw in regular time, the winner at these stages is determined by penalty shootouts;

– in the 1/2 finals, the winners of the pairs are determined based on the results of two matches: one match at home – one match away;

– the team that scored the most goals in two matches at this stage advances to the next round of the tournament, if both teams scored the same number of goals in two matches, then the winner is determined by a penalty shootout;

– the winner of the trophy is determined in the final match – if a draw is recorded during the regular time, a series of 11-meter punches is assigned.

The previous match, as part of the 13th round of the Winline Super League, our team held in Ryazan against the local Ryazan-Airborne. The blue and white, who beat Lokomotiv at the RZD Arena a week before this meeting, looked like favorites, but being a favorite and realizing their advantage are certainly different things. And so it turned out in a match that was filled with moments, including scoring, and events that could actually bring the final success to both teams.

If the blue and white mostly fought off the attacks of Ryazan football players for almost the entire starting segment and could not respond with anything because of their tight pressure even in the other half of the field, then Alexander Katasonov's wards got down to business so thoroughly that they could decide the fate of the match, in fact, with two striking attacks. First, after a perfect cut pass from Anna Sas, she had the perfect momentYulia Bessolova, but the ball, after the captain of our team hit, literally shook the crossbar of the Ryazan-Airborne goal and rolled out of the field. And thenElena Shesterneva gave a luxurious transfer toAnastasia Kovaleva, but this time her team was saved by Ryazan-Airborne goalkeeper Maria Svidunovich.

The continuation of the game after two such absolute moments from the guest team was amazing. Instead of continuing to bend their line, dynamovki again pressed themselves to their goal and allowed the hosts to seize the initiative. And yet, having reflected all the attacks of Ryazan football players on their own goal, dynamovki could and should have completed the first half, leading in the score. Another killer moment was created by the same Kovaleva: the Belarusian striker shot past the goalkeeper and all the defenders of Ryazan-Airborne into the far lower corner, several Dynamo football players could have closed the ball at once, but in the end he just rolled past the bar and left the field. The zeros on the scoreboard clearly did not correspond to what was happening on the field in the first half.

They did not correspond to how the second half of this amazing meeting went. Moreover, unlike the first half, the beginning of the second was completely left to our team. Only here's the problem – bad luck did not want to leave the Dynamo team that day and it showed itself in all its glory in another 100 percent scoring moment. This time Milena Nikitina got her chance – the defender of the blue and white team went almost one-on-one with the goalkeeper of the Ryazan team, but ... Milena also missed the goal in such a situation. Once again, luck turned away from Dynamo!

The second half of the half was filled with substitutions, fighting in the center of the field and on the approaches to penalties, and there were enough nervous moments, but there was not so much football itself. The teams exchanged attacks and strikes, which happened more often with our team, but the most important thing – goals – never happened.

So the match rolled to the final whistle – the zero draw was already the second for Dynamo this season and the first in the confrontation with Ryazan-Airborne. For the first time in the history of personal meetings, Ryazan women were able to take away points from blue and white.

Well, Dynamo completed the first round of the Winline Super League just like that. The blue and white team went on a break in the championship in 7th place and with a gap of 11 points from the third line. As they say, there is something for the coaching staff and the players of our team to think about.

However, Alexander Katasonov's team filled the two-week break in official matches not only with almost daily training sessions, but also with game practice. So, for the first time in its history, the Dynamo Housing and Communal Complex held a friendly match with the Russian national team.

The historic meeting took place on June 27 in Selyatino, Moscow region, at the stadium of SC "Builder" and ended with a score of 3:0 in favor of the Russian national team. It is noteworthy that Kristina Komissarova took part in the game as part of the Russian national team against her teammates. The Dynamo midfielder appeared on the field in the starting lineup and spent the entire first half against the blue and white.

The Russian national team rushed into the attack from the first minutes and began to create scoring chances one after another. Blue and white were first saved by Diana Ponomareva, then by the crossbar of her own goal, but when Polina Yuklyaeva responded to the transfer of ex-dynamo Marina Fedorova in the middle of the first half, the account was still open. The teams left for the break with a minimal advantage of the Russian national team.

Having come out almost in a completely renewed lineup for the second half, Yuri Krasnozhan's team continued to put pressure on the defense of the Dynamo team and soon achieved success again. In the 55th minute, the same Yuklyaeva scored a double against Dynamo in a beautiful style - 2:0 in favor of the Russian national team.

The blue and white tried to turn the tide of the game, but they could not oppose anything except long-range and not very strong blows from outside the penalty area to the powerful attacks of the Russian football players. Five minutes before the end of regular time, they also set the final score of the match thanks to the irresistible blow of Kira Petukhova – 3:0 in favor of the national team. This time the Russian team with dynamovka in the composition turned out to be stronger than our team.

However, the calendar of the current season will not allow you to think too long. Already this Saturday, Dynamo will begin its third campaign in the club's history for the second–highest trophy in our women's football - the Winline Cup of Russia.

The opponent of Dynamo in the first round of this year's tournament was the Wings of the Soviets – neighbors in the championship standings. The clubs are also close in some historical intersections. Both teams have been playing in the top division of Russian women's football since 2023, both have gone a similar way to the elite: Dynamo and Krylia first made noise in the Youth League, winning silver and bronze medals in the 2022 season, respectively, both started their performances in the Super League next season.

Then, of course, the paths of Dynamo and Krylia diverged, we can say that the teams found themselves in different orbits. If the Moscow club claimed a place in the top three for two years in a row and ended up in 5th place twice in a row, then the Samara club has not shown top results at all for the last two seasons: in 2023 - the last place in the Super League, in 2024 – the penultimate…

And only this season the team from the banks of the Volga gathered courage and finally declared itself as a team that does not want to put up with the situation that existed in the previous two seasons.

So, in the first 6 rounds, Samara women scored 11 points, losing only once (0:1 to Zvezda-2005). Yes, then the expected decline followed – a winless streak of 4 matches in a row (3 defeats and a draw), but the Samara team spent the last two games at home and took the maximum possible. So, at first, the wards of 50-year-old Dmitry Voetsky with a creak, but beat Krasnoyarsk Yenisei (1:0), and then with the same score – Moscow Lokomotiv! By the way, the current winner of the Winline Cup of Russia, which Dynamo and Krylia Sovetov are joining the fight for this Saturday.

As a result, Krylia finished the first round in a record 6th place in the Winline Super League standings. And even the negative difference between goals scored and goals conceded (9-11) did not prevent the Volga team from getting ahead of Dynamo Moscow in this table, which, according to the results of the first half of the season, was one line lower.

Another important point before the match of the 1/8 finals of the Winline Cup of Russia is the revanchist sentiments that Dynamo football players may have. The fact is that among the 5 victories that the Samara team won in the first round of the championship, there is also one over Dynamo – in the 6th round of the Winline Super League, Krylia defeated Dynamo (1:2) on the field in Novogorsk. Not only was this victory the first for the Samara club in the confrontation with Dynamo, but also the former Serbian dynamo player Tiyana Matic took part in both goals scored by the Wings, she scored a goal plus a pass. But that's not all!

Shortly after this defeat, which became the third for the blue and white in 5 matches since the beginning of the season, the post of head coach was left by the long-time mentor of the Dynamo Football Club Sergey Lavrentiev. In general, whatever one may say, that defeat was truly historic for the capital's club.

Now the team under the leadership of Alexander Katasonov is given the opportunity not only to take revenge for a home defeat, but also to do it as timely and beautifully as possible – to knock the Samara club out of the national cup in the first match of the tournament. By the way, last season both teams completed their performances in the Russian Cup at the 1/4 finals stage – another small intersection in the history of the two clubs.
