Team status
In the last round, the blue and white met in Novogorsk with Zenit St. Petersburg, and this meeting solved a lot for our team. After all, in case of failure, the blue and white team lagged behind the Moscow Lokomotiv - and all this on the eve of the face–to-face meeting at the Sapsan Arena.
Considering the level of the opponent, the match really turned out to be difficult. The bronze medalists of last season, who occupy a record-low 7th place in the table so far, in the first half of the game looked no worse than the Dynamo team claiming the championship this year. At least the moments they created were really dangerous and could bring them forward more than once. If it wasn't for the super reliable game of Dynamo goalkeeper Arina Taranchenko, who helped her team out several times in the most hopeless situations. Largely thanks to her, the blue and white went on a break, not conceding in the score.
But in the second half, it was still not possible to avoid this. And it happened shortly after the resumption of the game. The pressure of Zenit, already noticeable before the break, intensified even more immediately after the teams left the locker rooms. The St. Petersburg football players again pressed the Muscovites to their gates, not forgetting to periodically punch at them. The moment in the 51st minute became fatal for the blue and white - after a canopy from the right flank, the ex-Dynamo football player Anastasia Gnennaya punched into the near corner so accurately that even Taranchenko could not cope with this blow.
But Dynamo has proved more than once this season that it's definitely not about him to give up. Less than five minutes after the missed goal, the blue and white restored the status quo. Anastasia Kovaleva famously dribbled through half of Zenit's defense and in the end effectively punched the goalkeeper of the rivals Victoria Ivanova-Merciless – 1:1!
Immediately after the goal, the blue and white took the initiative and already forced the guests from the banks of the Neva River to move to their half of the field and move to active defense. However, they did not last long. In the 63rd minute, after a fuss in the Zenit penalty area and a series of ricochets, the ball very successfully bounced for the Dynamo team to Ekaterina Sergeeva, who quickly got her bearings and immediately sent it to the guests' goal - 2:1!
Despite the fact that our team seemed to have caught the courage and was supposed to consolidate the success, the remaining almost half an hour of the game was spent in a stubborn struggle, which led to regular counterattacks by both teams. Dynamo even scored the third goal, but the blue-white-blue goal taken by the 15-year-old debutante of Dynamo youth team Milena Lyubimova was not counted due to offside.
At the very end, already in the added time, something irreparable could have happened – but another rescue from Arina Taranchenko saved the Dynamo goal from scoring and brought Dynamo such a difficult and important victory!
— The game was double-edged, we could have scored, our opponents could have scored, but we were the first to miss. I will pay tribute to my girls who found the strength and turned this game around, eventually snatching the victory. This is not the first time this season that this has happened," Oleg Gusev, the head coach of the Dynamo youth football team, rightly noted the character of his wards.
The midfielder of the blue and white Valeria Azeeva also shared her emotions after the match.:
— Today we gave our all, ran forward to score. We weren't upset when we conceded the first goal. In the end, everything was successful, we were able to score. There are still important games ahead, we needed this victory and we won, we did it thanks to a team game.

And the next match will be held in a week and it will be a super battle in Cherkizovo – the two main favorites of the Youth League will meet in a face-to-face duel to identify the sole leader, and maybe the future champion!

About the opponent, the history of the confrontation, the judging panel
The opponent of the blue and white in the 18th round – the youth team of the FC Lokomotiv – has been leading its history since 2020, and since 2021 it has been playing in the Youth League. During this time, the railwaywomen have already won this tournament twice – in 2022 and 2024.
Interestingly, in the 2022 season, as in this draw, Lokomotiv and Dynamo fought for the championship title, but then the gold went to the team from the northeast of the capital. The wards of Alexander Zayakin, who then led the railwaywomen, unmistakably spent the end of the season and were just one point ahead of the blue and white.
Lokomotiv spent the next championship season already without Zayakin – before the 2024 season, the team was headed by Nikolai Kovardaev, also well known to Dynamo fans. In the 90s he played for different teams of our football club - double, Dynamo-2 and even the main team. But he made the main mark in Dynamo's history as a coach: for many years he worked at the Dynamo Academy, headed the blue and white youth team, with which he won silver and bronze medals at the youth championship, was a member of the coaching staff of the main team under Dan Petrescu and Stanislav Cherchesov.
In his first season at the head of the women's "Loco" Kovardaev immediately achieved a resounding success. The team under his leadership went through the season with a rink: 16 wins, one draw and only one defeat, with the best goal difference among all teams – 53-13. Unconditional championship and well-deserved gold medals!
Therefore, the fact that Dynamo managed to at least impose a trophy fight on this team this season is a great achievement. Including a face-to-face duel. So, in the first round match in Novogorsk, the teams drew 1-1. In the second half, the goal of Ekaterina Sergeeva was answered almost immediately by the railwaywoman. Largely due to this draw, both teams are on par in the standings – both have 34 points, but due to more wins (11 against 10), the blue and white are ahead of Lokomotiv.
That is why the upcoming match will be fateful. In case of victory, one of the teams will be able to get ahead by three points, and 3-4 rounds will remain until the end of the season. To correct the situation in this case, only a competitor's misfire will help.
Who will have an easier calendar, judge for yourself: Dynamo will have Master Saturn (at home), Rubin (away), CSKA (at home), Loko will have Master Saturn (away), Rubin (at home), CSKA (away), Krasnodar (at home). Do not forget that Lokomotiv will still have a game in reserve.
And on the one hand, it seems that everything is now in the hands of our team, on the other, the killer statistics of personal meetings literally trumpets that it will be incredibly difficult to win. The teams played 7 matches against each other: 5 of them were won by railwaywomen, one by blue and white, once there was a draw. We have already talked about the draw above, it was recorded relatively recently, in the first round of this season. But the victory of Dynamo ... this event happened almost three years ago – when the Dynamo Housing and Communal Services had only a youth team and performed under the leadership of Sergei Lavrentiev.
But it was then at the Sapsan Arena, as now, that our girls won such a necessary victory, which allowed them to fight railway workers for gold to the last. And Valeria Azeeva, a football player who has been playing for the Dynamo youth team so far, brought these crucial three points in the last seconds.
Who will be the hero of Dynamo this time?
The new official meeting within the framework of the Youth League will be served by the judging panel headed by Anna Kurkina from Moscow, who will be assisted by assistant judges Irina Chechenina (Vologda) and Olga Alexandrova (Kirov).
Previously, Kurkina had already worked on Dynamo matches: all in the Youth League – against UOR No. 5 Master Saturn (2:2), Lokomotiv (1:1) and twice against Strogino Housing and Communal Services (4:0 and 4:1).
